The Green Revolution has made remarkable strides in feeding the world’s ever grow population. However, any scientists and researchers have grown alarmingly concerned that we are quickly reaching a point where demand will far exceed supply.
By 2025, Asia’s population will add another billion rice eaters. Ironically, the poorest populations will continue to grow the fastest. They will depend on rice as their major food staple. Will the continent be able to grow enough rice?
Vision Project’s goal is to create an in-depth, comprehensive documentation that looks at the conditions and complexities related to hunger, rice production and population growth. The objective is to illuminate the problems and evaluate the efforts, innovations, people and programs established to confront the situation. We believe this material will enable others, more directly involved in the development of long-term plans and resolutions, to have a resource on which they can formulate the necessary action.
