Iran is one of the world’s top-quality saffron producers. Over 96% of the world’s saffron production belongs to Iran. It exports this product to about forty countries. However, the world assumes most saffron comes from Spain because for many years Iranian producers have exported the bulk of it there, where it is packaged under a different name. Nikoubazl’s images show us a rich cultural component of Iran and open our eyes to a vaguely held secret, particularly when the news tends to only focuses on the negative aspects of today’s Middle East.
