Bodyguards: Security Concerns
For Mexico's Elite

The primary sources of income for Mexico's organized crime gangs are drug trafficking, extortion and kidnapping. Consequently, many Mexicans feel constantly under threat. Since corrupt police are often part of the problem, elite Mexican families that are prime kidnapping targets tend to take protection into their own hands by hiring private militias of bodyguards. Although they are for obvious reasons loath to have their lives documented, one prominent Mexican businessman allowed coverage of his family and their team of highly trained bodyguards. His conditions were that the faces of his children would not be shown and that his name and location would never be disclosed. This project provides a unique insight into a rarely reported sector of Mexican society.
